An image of an aircraft hit by shrapnel from Russian air defence systems.
The similarities in the damage caused by the defence system are obvious. The Azerbaijani passenger plane was probably a victim of Russian air defence.

38 killed as Russia shoots down Azerbaijani passenger plane
Sources from the Azerbaijani government have confirmed that a Russian surface-to-air missile caused yesterday’s Azerbaijan Airlines plane crash.
The missile was fired during a Ukrainian drone strike on Grozny and struck Flight 8432 with shrapnel when the missile exploded near the plane mid-flight.
Despite requests for an emergency landing, Russia denied the damaged plane permission to land at any Russian airport and ordered it to fly over the Caspian Sea toward Aktau in Kazakhstan.
Additionally, Russia disrupted the plane’s GPS navigation systems throughout its flight over the Caspian Sea using electronic warfare systems.
