Circassian organizations in Kayseri and Eskisehir (Türkiye) have issued a joint statement criticizing the President of the International Circassian Association Hauti Sokhrokov after the publication of his interview with the newspaper Gazeta Yuga.
Sokhrokov's words that the majority of Adyghe in Syria supported Bashar al-Assad were called irresponsible and untrue. The activists believe that such statements pose a threat to the Circassian community in Syria in conditions when the country is controlled by the armed opposition (https://www.instagram.com/p/DDwitP0ASqQ/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link).
Hauti had previously shared false information on behalf of the Circassians in order to create perception. He had announced that the Circassians supported the anti-democratic changes made to the Russian Constitution in 2020 (https://cherkessia.net/news_detail.php?id=7604). Shortly afterwards, the then-KAFFED General President Yıldız Şekerci denied Hauti by announcing in a video message that she was against the constitutional amendment (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h75AFQKrxzE).
